From our South Australian groves to the international stage, Rio Vista Olives is celebrating a remarkable achievement, with two Gold medals and one Silver at the prestigious 2026 New York International Olive Oil Competition.
It's official — some of the world's finest extra virgin olive oils are being grown and produced right here in South Australia.
Family-owned Rio Vista Olives has achieved outstanding success at the 2026 New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), taking home Gold medals for its Koroneiki and Gigi extra virgin olive oils, alongside a Silver medal for Hardys Mammoth.
Recognised as one of the world's most prestigious olive oil competitions, the NYIOOC celebrates excellence in extra virgin olive oil production, bringing together exceptional oils from producers around the globe.
For Rio Vista Olives, the international recognition is another milestone in an extraordinary year of awards success and a proud moment for the family behind the South Australian brand.
Three Medals. One Proud South Australian Family.
The 2026 New York results recognise three distinct expressions of Rio Vista Olives' estate-grown extra virgin olive oils.
Koroneiki — Gold Medal
Fresh, vibrant and beautifully expressive, Rio Vista Olives' Koroneiki has continued its remarkable winning streak.
The New York Gold follows another significant achievement on home soil, where Koroneiki was crowned Best Oil in Show at the 2026 Australian Golden Olive Awards.
Produced from olives grown in South Australia, Koroneiki reflects the quality, freshness and distinctive character that have become hallmarks of Rio Vista Olives.
Gigi — Gold Medal
Joining Koroneiki on the Gold medal podium is Gigi, another exceptional extra virgin olive oil from the Rio Vista Olives collection.
Its international recognition highlights the diversity and quality of oils produced across the family's South Australian groves, and the attention to detail that goes into every stage of production.
Hardys Mammoth — Silver Medal
Completing the medal collection is Hardys Mammoth, a distinctive Australian olive variety celebrated for its expressive and complex flavour profile.
With bright aromas of tropical fruit, fig leaf, tomato leaf and fresh herbs, balanced by elegant bitterness and a lingering peppery finish, Hardys Mammoth is a wonderful example of the character and diversity of Australian extra virgin olive oil.
Its Silver medal is further recognition of Rio Vista Olives' commitment to showcasing exceptional olive varieties and producing oils with a true sense of place.
From South Australian Groves to International Recognition
While New York may be a long way from the olive groves of South Australia, these awards are a celebration of everything that happens much closer to home.
For Rio Vista Olives, exceptional extra virgin olive oil begins in the grove.
With family-owned groves in the Adelaide Hills and Murraylands, Rio Vista Olives is committed to growing, harvesting and producing its own oils, maintaining control over quality from the tree through to the finished bottle.
Olives are carefully harvested and cold-pressed within hours, capturing the freshness, natural aromas and distinctive flavours of each variety.
Unlike mass-produced oils, Rio Vista Olives focuses on small-batch production, provenance and craftsmanship, allowing the character of the fruit and the South Australian landscape to shine through.
It's this commitment to quality, rather than quantity, that continues to earn recognition both nationally and internationally.
An Extraordinary Year for Rio Vista Olives
The New York success adds to an impressive collection of accolades for Rio Vista Olives in 2026.
Alongside Koroneiki's Best Oil in Show recognition at the Australian Golden Olive Awards, the producer recently celebrated another major achievement at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Awards, where its chef collaboration, Paul Farag x Rio Vista Olives Sahawiq, was crowned Champion Flavoured Oil.
The vibrant, co-pressed green chilli olive oil received an outstanding score of 93.33 points — the highest awarded across the Oil and Olive classes.
Together, these achievements showcase the breadth of Rio Vista Olives' expertise, from exceptional single-variety extra virgin olive oils to innovative, chef-inspired agrumato creations.
A Celebration of Passion, Provenance and Place
For the family behind Rio Vista Olives, the medals represent much more than international recognition.
They celebrate the years spent nurturing the groves, the anticipation and hard work of each harvest, and an unwavering belief in the quality of Australian-grown extra virgin olive oil.
Most importantly, they demonstrate that exceptional olive oil doesn't need to come from the other side of the world.
Some of the world's finest is grown right here in South Australia.
As Rio Vista Olives continues to take its oils from grove to global, the family remains committed to the same principles that have guided the business from the beginning: quality, freshness, provenance and a genuine passion for producing exceptional extra virgin olive oil.
And while the awards may have been presented in New York, the celebration belongs firmly to South Australia.
